About the Item

Early 19th c Sterling Berry Spoon with Embossed Gold Washed Wave Edged Bowl. The handle and bowl are beautifully decorated. Berry spoons became popular during the mid-19th century. They were specifically designed to serve fruit and feature elaborate chased decorations of berries, fruits, and flowers on their bowls and handles. The bowls were gilded to protect the silver from acidic fruit juices. For more than 30 years, N.P. Trent Antiques has been among the countries leading dealers in period English and Continental furniture, art, jewelry and decorative accessories. We also carry a large selection of Antiquarian books with a special focus on the decorative arts as well as a selection of both signed and unsigned 1st Editions.
