Early 19th Century Antique George IV Sterling Silver Set Twelve Dinner Plates

About the Item

This is one of the finest sets of twelve shaped circular Georgian silver dinner plates available. These dinner plates are made by the silversmith John Houle in London in 1833. They are of the regency period and are of particular nice quality. The weight is much heavier than usual weighing in at 283 ounces. They are decorated with a supremely crisp shell and gadroon border and sumptuously hand engraved contemporary armorials etched at a ‘north’ ‘south’ positioning for probably two prominent families entwining. Weight: 283 troy ounces/8800 grams Diameter: 10 inches/25.5cm Condition: Excellent throughout Note: These plates are the finest set I have had in 50 years. The very important looking armorials are quite beautiful and probably two prominent families marrying.
