About the Item

Exceptional pair of vermeil salerons represented by a newt blowing in a conch, in the middle of two large shells placed on an oval base with leafy outlines. Here the marine theme is inspired by the "Neptune" basin of Versailles and a centerpiece executed by Emile Froment Meurice for the Duke Medina Celi, now kept in the Royal Palace of Madrid. This work can be attributed to the Boudet house, 43 boulevard des Capucines in Paris. Example this Important pair of coolers and their adherent displays in silver and vermeil. Late 19th century period executed by the BOUDET house. (attached photo) Dimensions: length 24 cm - width 13.4 cm - height 16.5 cm Material: Silver vermeil 1st grade 950/°°° Weight: 2,900 grams Hallmarks: MINERVA and BOAR Period: 19th century Goldsmith: Attributed to Victor BOUDET Origin: France/Paris Victor Boudet is a silversmith who stamped his hallmark in 1894. His workshop located at 43 Boulevard des Capucines was still active in 1902 before he moved. These magnificent salerons do not seem to have a goldsmith's mark. It is therefore likely that Boudet chiselled this piece with great virtuosity, but it is impossible to ensure that he was the craftsman.
