  • Yasha Heifetz Cerused Oak Sculptural Table Lamp
    By Heifetz, Yasha Heifetz
    Located in New York, NY
Yasha Heifetz designed lamp for self manufacturing company, Heifetz Lighting Co. A tall sculptural biomorphic cerused oak wood table lamp on black painted wooden base. Carved from a single piece of oak and mounted on a rectangle tapered wood base. Features original leather lampshade with original black whip-stitch trim to accent its black wooden base. 2 pieces of damage to shade, both shown in images, are both not noticeable when the light is in use. Incredible condition for work created in the 1950's. Yasha Heifetz began Heifetz Lighitng Company in 1938. He rose to fame in 1950 when he co-sponsored and was an esteemed judge, alongside Marcel Breur and 2 directors of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) of NYC in a lighting design competition for MoMA itself. Their search was in response to a quest by both Heifetz and Breuer to find a well designed modern lamp. Both claimed at the time that all available options felt "flat and static" as most lamps design ethos felt more attention on the lamp rather than the lighting it emit. Over 600 designers participated in the competition; including Richard Schultz of Knoll and Alexey Brodovitch...

  • Handwrought Sterling Silver Puffer Fish Salt Shaker and Pepper Mill, Missiaglia
    By Missiaglia 1846
    Located in New York, NY
Established in Venice in 1846, Missiaglia is one of the world's premier makers of the finest jewelry objects, as well as a select number of bespoke sterling silver tabletop accessories. This handcrafted puffer salt Shaker and pepper mill showcase the skill and impeccable craftsmanship of Missiaglia's artisans. Each puffer fish features a hand-hammered dappled skein with an abundance of protruding conical spikes, as well as striated dorsal, tail and pectoral fins. Their whimsically refined faces offer stylized eyes consisting of concentric circular forms with a concave depression at centre, and an ovoid mouth with protuberant lips. The larger vessel holds pepper- artfully concealed within the body of the piece- which is ground by rotating the tail fin. The salt Shaker has an abundance of holes adorning the forehead of the smaller puffer...
