A pair of Chinese export silver candlesticks each depicting crane on a tortoise. Crane and tortoise are the symbol of immortality, happiness and longevity in Chinese mythology. The crane also used as a symbol of high position of power and life full of honours by Chinese nobility. The silver is unmarked. The candlesticks were made in China circa 1890.
