About the Item
A fine pair of sterling silver urn-shaped vases crafted by Shreve & Company, San Francisco’s premier silversmiths. Each vase stands approximately 7 inches high and measures 7 inches in diameter across the scalloped rim.
The vases are of classical urn form, raised on a circular, scalloped foot, with a flaring rim that mirrors the undulating shape of the base. The overall silhouette is balanced and elegant, embodying Shreve & Co.’s signature blend of refined proportion and superior craftsmanship.
Both the rim and base are richly embellished with delicate etched ornamentation, consisting of flowing scrollwork and floral motifs finely engraved in a continuous pattern. The body features complementary etched decoration, harmoniously integrated into the design, adding depth and texture to the gleaming polished silver surface.
Each vase retains its original removable glass liner, custom-fitted to protect the silver interior from water damage. The liners allow for practical use as flower vases while preserving the integrity of the silverwork—an elegant marriage of function and artistry.
