A magnificent, fine and impressive set of six antique George III English sterling silver meat skewers or letter openers made by Paul Storr, an addition to our diverse flatware collection. These magnificent antique George IV English sterling silver meat skewers or letter openers has a plain tapered form. This exceptional set is comprised of three pairs of meat skewers, each pair graduating in size. Each skewer is ornamented with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest below a baron's coronet. The terminal of each skewer is embellished with a chased decorated shell design below a reed decorated circular ring loop finger piece. Sets of six graduated antique silver skewers are difficult to locate, especially those by the renowned and important London silversmith Paul Storr. The original use of this item was purely as a game/meat skewer. Due to its form, this piece may certainly be used as an effective letter openers Condition These antique silver meat skewers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The chased decoration is all very sharp and the crests are very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each skewer are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique flatware. Antique George III Sterling Silver Hanoverian Pattern Table Forks (1767)

An exceptional, fine and impressive set of twelve antique Georgian sterling silver Hanoverian pattern table forks; an addition to our Georgian flatware collections. These exceptional antique Georgian straight* sterling silver forks have been crafted in the Hanoverian pattern with three tines. The posterior surface of each antique silver fork handle terminal incorporates the bright cut engraved crest of out of a coronet a griffin's head, all above the monogram initial 'W'. The anterior surface of each 18th century fork is plain with a pip to the handle terminal. Such straight examples of antique silver forks with clearly struck hallmarks are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. * 'Straight' means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year. Condition These antique sterling silver forks are an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each handle stem are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silver flatware...

The reverse surface is plain and unembellished apart from the featured hallmarks. This fine example of antique silversmith was crafted by the renowned London female silversmith Mary Chawner.
