About the Item

Very refined lunch set made by the French luxury silversmith Puiforcat. This gorgeous set in solid silver is composed of 18 plates with scalloped edges decorated with foliage. The plates are perfect to use as bread plates. Set with French sterling silver guaranty stamp Minerve 920 and with Puiforcat house stamp. Sold in the original old leather case of the plates, such well done and very refined. Weight of plates: 4143 g Created in 1820 by Emile and Jean-Marie Puiforcat with Jean-Marie Fusch. The family business grew up in the 1915s as a luxury silverware company thanks to the management of Louis-Victor Tabouret, the husband of a Puiforcat’s heir that he married in 1892 and take the name of Puiforcat to perpetuate the dynasty. His son, Jean Puiforcat (1897-1945), joined the company close to 1920. Jean Puiforcat is a world-renowned silversmith as he contributed to French radiance and distinction in the Art Nouveau and the Art Deco style. Like Tiffany did.
