About the Item

An exceptional, fine, and impressive, large antique Georgian English sterling silver nutmeg grater made by Samuel Pemberton; an addition to our silver boxes collection This impressive antique George III sterling silver nutmeg grater has an oval form. The covers and body of this solid silver nutmeg grater are encompassed with impressive bands of interlacing, undulating pin struck decoration. The covers of the box incorporate central bordered vacant cartouches. The hinged hallmarked anterior cover opens to reveal the steel grating grille. The underside of the box bears a secondary hallmarked flush hinged cover which allows access to the grated nutmeg; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the piece. The hinged Georgian silver nutmeg grater cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged pierced decorated grille. This impressive sterling silver nutmeg grater, crafted by the renowned silversmith Samuel Pemberton, is a large example for its type. Condition: This Georgian silver nutmeg grater is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The pin struck decoration is all very crisp. Full hallmarks to the interior of each cover are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine example of Georgian silverware.
