Shreve & Co. Sterling Silver Compote / Dish in Adam Pattern?

About the Item

Shreve & Co.,early 20th century, sterling silver compote/ dish with beautiful pierced work, flowers, and medallions near the rim, possibly in Adam pattern. It measures 11 1/4'' in diameter by 1 3/4'' in height, weighs 17.2 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks as shown. Shreve & Company is an established retailer of jewelry, from timepieces to diamonds, headquartered in San Francisco, California. Incorporated in 1894 by George Rodman and Albert J. Lewis, it is considered the oldest commercial establishment in San Francisco. The San Francisco Museum and Historical Society has the silver spade used by San Francisco Mayor James Rolphe at the groundbreaking for city hall and the civic center, and other objects made by Shreve & Co. We hand polish all items before shipping them out, but if there is interest for a professional polishing and/or engraving removal, we can take care of that for an additional charge and with delayed shipping.
