Silver Art Nouveau Centerpiece With High Legs & Plastic Putti, France Circa 1910

About the Item

Exceptional and elegant silver jardinière of elliptical basic form on high curved volute legs with attached fully plastic putti as torchbearers and feather leaf rests on the rolled feet, vessel with straight vertical wall and regular openings in the form of rhythmically staggered column+arch elements, framed by palmette-relief bands, on the front and back coat-of-arms-shaped panels bordered with bands, straight top edge, rosettes applied lengthwise opposite each other on the outside. Matching glass insert with straight upper edge and stone cut on the rim protruding from the silver vessel, as well as large cut bottom star.     Elegant, simple Art Nouveau silver jardinière on an elliptical ground plan, the wall generously openworked in the form of two perforated bands running around the upper and lower edges of the vessel, connected by four slender, pyramid-shaped uprights ending in low feet, which divide the wall into four segments, on the front and back oval panels, embedded on bundles of feather leaves and crowned with bows, which at the same time serve as a connection to the leaf festoons surrounding the vessel, rams' heads applied lengthwise opposite each other on the outside, which can also serve as handles.
