A Silver Kiddush Goblet, Germany Circa 1920

About the Item

An Artistic Silver Kiddush Goblet, made in Germany at the turn of the 20th century. When looking at this Kiddush Goblet you see the real beauty of classic German craftsmanship. The chasing designs emerge from the surface of the goblet almost as if the floral motifs were flowers embedded into the goblet. Goblet is set on a domed base with a flat edge decorated with prominent floral motifs and applied to a cylindrical knopped spool stem. Surmounted by a hexagon upper lip and cupped bowl adorned with more prominent floral wreaths on a pockmarked background atop undulating C-scrolls and rocaille ornaments. Along the rim are engraved clusters of grapes and the words " Remember the Sabbath Day for its Holiness" engraved alongside them. Hallmarked on the top of the flat-edged rim of the base.
