We are delighted to offer this sterling silver breadbasket by Mount Vernon Silver Company of Mt. Vernon, New York.
During WWII very little sterling silver hollowware was being manufactured. Partly because there was a shortage of manpower but mostly because people were not financially able to buy luxury items. The little that was made during that period reflects the austerity of the time. This breadbasket is simple; no decoration or etchings. It is sleek and minimalist with only a hand engraved monogram in the center.
