Vintage Late 19th Century Sterling Silver Document Folder
About the Item
This vintage sterling silver & leather document folder dates from the late 19th century. It has an oversize soft texture maroon moire silk interior & an exceptional detailed pierced sterling silver front cover featuring elaborate repousse' scrolls, flowers & framed lattice vignettes. The center of the sterling cover has a shield flanked by two winged cherubs. The shield contains the monogram JBR written in script. This stunning sterling silver cover is secured to the leather folder with many tiny screws. Upon opening the folder, one finds a beautiful lining of maroon moire silk. There is a full size pocket on each side with openings in the center when the folder is completely open. These pockets can hold documents,
sheet music &/or stationary. The base of the silver is stamped "STERLING" . There are three characters after this stamp but I am unable to identify the maker. A truly elegant gift !
