About the Item
This elegant and intricately formed Aesthetic Movement Hand-Hammered Silver Plated Tray W/Butterfly and Naturalist Motif by James Tufts originates from the United States, Circa 1880. Features a dynamic and detailed design with hand-hammered texturing throughout, with each corner curling upwards to form a sculptural border of the tray. The bottom left corner has a sculpted butterfly affixed to the top in an additional layer of plated silver, leading into the center which contains an elegant image of overlapping plants and flowers brimming with detail and carefully handled line work delineating the forms and rewarding careful viewing of the piece. Rests on four fluted ball feet that raise the tray from the table surface, with a engraved signature denoting the maker. A beautiful addition to those who appreciate finely crafted and aesthetically gorgeous pieces from the 19th Century, this tray will style well in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Aesthetic Movement to Art Deco and Mid-Century Modernist Interiors.
