Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Toast Rack

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver toast rack; an addition to our dining silverware collection This exceptional and rare antique Victorian sterling silver toast rack has an shaped arched form. This antique Victorian silver toast rack has four compartments divided by a pierced decorated scrolling frame in the form of the initials comprising the word 'TOAST'. The two outer letters are further ornamented with flat engraved decoration enhancing the scrolling leaf designs, in addition to a trellis design to the upper portion. The upper portion of the central letter/frame incorporates a scrolling carrying handle. The plain hallmarked scrolling shaped base is supported by four ball style feet. Such named examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Condition This antique sterling silver toast rack is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The flat engraved decoration is all very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the base are all very clear; the hallmarks have been deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this hallmarked solid silver toast rack. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver mustard pot has a plain cylindrical form. The body of the mustard pot is embellished with pierced interlacing shaped arches accented with simplified floral motifs. The upper and lower rim of this sterling mustard pot is ornamented with an applied ribbed border. This fine mustard pot retains the original hallmarked hinged subtly domed cover surmounted with an impressive scrolling leaf decorated thumbpiece. The surface of the cover is embellished with pin struck decoration emanating from the centre in addition to a wriggle work stylised floral design.
