Arts & Crafts silver & enamel bowl

About the Item

An Edwardian Arts & Crafts style silver bowl with elegantly hand-painted blue and green enamel decorations, attributed to the designer Archibald Knox who created many silver pieces for Liberty & Co. The cone-shaped sterling silver bowl is mounted on three c-shaped supports and above each of the three curved enamel panels there are hand-chased woven knot designs, typical design cues of Knox's work. A beautiful and decorative example of the the Arts & Crafts style, this bowl could be used to serve nuts or sweets. Liberty & Co was more than just a luxury and prolific shop, it was also a major hub for both the Arts & Crafts Movement and Art Nouveau. Liberty vastly contributed to the patronage of up and coming jewellery artists, furniture makers and designers, which included those who were involved within these movements.
