About the Item

Mandarin Palette mug in polychrome enamels with gilt highlights and twisted strap handle. The exterior is handsomely painted in the famille rose colors of a continuous courtly scene with young women receiving male visitors and attended by servants in a garden setting within an open pavilion. A band of roses and butterflies decorate the mouth rim both exterior and interior. China, made for the Western trade, circa 1815.
