About the Item

Coin Silver Serving Spoon by Shepherd & Boyd, Abany, NY in the Fiddle Pattern. Shepherd and Boyd were American silversmiths, the partnership was between Robert Shepherd (1781 – March 6, 1853) and William Boyd (September 14, 1774 – April 24, 1840), they were active at 136 Market Street in Albany, New York, from 1806 to 1830. The initials may be those of Harmanus Bleecker. Bleeker was a U.S. Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1801 and commenced to practice law in Albany, New York. In 1811, he was elected as a Federalist to the Twelfth Congress, serving until 1813. For more than 30 years, N.P.
