About the Item

From Creil et Montereau, a Provencal faïence rimmed soup plate in the Flora Muguet pattern, circa 1840-1876. Muguet or muguet-du-bois translates from the French to Lily of the Valley, and the flower is repeated in the pattern along with roses, morning glories and a variety of leaves. A brilliant, dense, inky blue transfer printed pattern on white earthenware. Having a charming hand-made quality, each of these blue transfer printed soups varies slightly in the intensity and crispness of the transfer, and in the feel of the plate. With a wide rim showing a running border of leaves, some plates more distinct than others. 9 in. Diameter x 1.5 in. Height Marked with the early 19th Century Creil cartouche, L . M. & C . for Leboeuf, Milliet & Cie. used from 1840-1876. There are multiple soup plates available, offered individually for creating a set to suit your needs. The expected light wear – lovely antique conditions.
