About the Item

A set of six English round melamine placemats made by Lady Clare, in the original box. Each placemat features a botanical illustration of a rose by Pierre-Joseph Redouté. Placemats are backed with green felt. Flower painter and botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté was an unparalleled master of botanical illustrations and engravings. His most celebrated work Les Roses was published in three volumes between 1817 and 1824. The continued popularity of his work speaks to his remarkable talent for capturing nature's elusive beauty with vibrancy and accuracy.
