About the Item

This is a wooden tray made in Japan between the Taisho and early Showa periods. In Japanese, it is called "obon." The material is unknown, but it is thought to be wood such as horse chestnut. Round and square trays have been made in Japan since ancient times. They come in a variety of sizes and materials. Basically, round trays are the most commonly made, followed by rectangular trays. Trays with special shapes like this one are rare, and are made by incorporating the outer bark of the tree and shaping them to fit the shape. The wood grain is also unique and interesting, and you will never get bored of looking at it. And yet, it brings out the color and material of any cup placed inside the tray. It is an attractive item because of the manufacturing process, where the wood itself is used and humans add their own touches to it, rather than completely designing it into a round or square shape. It was probably used with great care, and there is almost no wear and tear, so it is easy to use. It is a very good tray. I recommend it. Weight: 0.85 kg [We mainly sell old Japanese items.
