About the Item

A Very Fine & Rare Set of Six George III "Celtic Point" Dessert Spoons Made in Edinburgh in 1794 by John Cornforth. The Spoons are modelled in the "Celtic Point" design, with a bright cut border on the stems. The top of the stems are each engraved with a contemporary script initial and each of the bowls display a thick tip to the end. The spoons are all in excellent condition and are very well marked. It is rare to find bright cut Celtic Point dessert flatware from Scotland and these are a quite exceptional set. Additional information: Length: 7.5 inches, 18.75cm

The teaspoons are of a most unusual design and are modeled in the Hanoverian style. The shaped stems display a raised bearded male mask surrounded by Rococo shell and scroll details. The reverse of the stem displays foliate designs and a vacant Rococo scroll cartouche.
