Jug and four mugs on a tray. Hand-painted earthenware. Art Deco style. 1933-1938. Glaze in shades of green, black and ochre yellow. Marked and labelled. Perfect condition. Dimensions: - Jug: H 12.5 cm x W 12.5 cm. - Mugs: D 5.0 cm without handle x H 4.7 cm. - Tray: D 25.8 cm. Upsala-Ekeby was one of Sweden’s most important ceramic and faience manufacturers, active from the late 19th century through much of the 20th century. The company became known for its functional pottery and decorative pieces with a modern design language. During the mid-20th century, Upsala-Ekeby collaborated with some of Sweden’s most renowned ceramic artists and designers. Today, many of its creations are considered classics of Swedish design and are highly sought after by collectors.

Denmark 'Flamestone' coffee or tea pot, four demitasses, four mugs, and eight saucers (four small / four larger) by Jens H. Quistgaard for Dansk Designs, circa 1958-1964. Features the Flamestone signature slate, almost brown glazed-earthenware with striated pattern and white porcelain interior (pitcher has a green tinge to the porcelain interior). Elegant, attractive set with only one fleck to the rim of one of the mugs (very minor and easy to miss -- see photos 15 and 16 for closeups).
