About the Item
Exeter. A Very Rare William IV Wine Funnel Made in Exeter in 1833 by Isaac Parkin.
The Wine Funnel is of typical form and the bowl is baluster in shape, with a gadrooned rim and side clip so that it can be attached to the side of a punch bowl, if used for that purpose. The inner section of the bowl is pierced with roundels to simulate a flower head. The spout can be removed, so that the straining muslin can be put in place before pouring the wine in the bottle through the funnel into the decanter. The funnel is in excellent condition and is very well marked. Incidentally the side is engraved with the contemporary inscription:
