The surface of each antiquecaddy is embellished with impressive embossed and chased scroll and foliate decoration incorporating a stylised animalistic mask to the upper portion. The decoration to either side incorporates a scene depicting a woman arranging flowers, and the posterior surface bears a structure, all in the chinoiserie style. The anterior surfaces these antique tea caddies incorporate scroll and leaf bordered cartouches, each displaying a contemporary engraved coat of arms. The opposing scrolling lower portion of each caddy composes a shaped rim and foot. These caddies are fitted with the original hinged cast silver covers, ornamented with further foliate and floral decoration and surmounted with impressive floral finials. These Georgian silver tea caddies and sugar canister are fitted to the fine and impressive, original hinged wood and skin covered presentation casket, bearing the original velvet lined interior. Condition These antique 18th century tea/sugar caddies are a magnificent gauge of silver, magnificent quality and in magnificent condition. The cast, embossed and chased decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp; the definition of these details indicates these caddies have seen little or no use. The original casket is distressed in keeping with age, however, remains in working condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the caddies are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the magnificent gauge of silver.
