ZARUCOLANDER basket, walnut wood, design Rio Kobayashi

About the Item

Zarucolander is a collapsible colander and basket, designed by designer Rio Kobayashi. The strainer slats, crafted from walnut, were steam bent and then secured with red and black colored ball screws. As the colander is collapsible, you just have to turn the balls to loosen the screws and thus unfold it. Once the screws are tightened, the strainer will stay in the desired shape. Despite its common name, the designer wants to keep the possibilities open for this object. There are no specific instructions, and each user is free to interpret it in their own way. It can also be used as a picking basket or fruit basket. Wood species: Walnut Dimensions: 40 x 25 x 20cm Technique: Bentwood Finish: Oil Production place: United Kingdom Design: Rio Kobayashi Publisher: OROS Editions Use and care : Do not pour hot water into it, only suitable for rinsing food with cold water. Do not put in the dishwasher. After contact with water, wipe the object with a soft cloth and let the object dry in the open position. To restore a certain shine to the wood, oil the object yourself with a soft cloth with linseed oil.
