An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Dutch silver three piece tea service; part of our silver teaware collection This exceptional antique Dutch silver tea set consists of a teapot, cream jug and sugar basket. Each piece of this antique silver tea set has an oval rounded form. The body of each piece is plain and unembellished, with applied reed decorated borders to the upper and lower portions. The teapot is fitted with a swept hinged cover, surmounted with the original carved painted wood oval fluted finial. The teapot retains the original, fine and impressive C shaped carved wood handle with plain silver sockets. The cream jug is fitted with an angular silver handle and the basket retains the original swing handle, each embellished with further reed decoration. The teapot is fitted with a plain tapering spout. The underside of each piece of this Dutch silver tea set include: Maker's mark: VV (untraced) Silver quality/purity mark: Crown (.934, 934/1000) Date mark:a (used between 7th October 1807 - March 1809) Export mark: Axe/hatchet mark* This tea service has the same credentials and is crafted in the same style as the tea caddy C7729 and would all sit well together. * This mark was used as an export tax mark on old Netherlands hallmarked items returning to the market. Condition This antique silver tea set is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each component has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The interior of each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. The Dutch hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
