    French Art Deco teay / coffee set by ROUX-MARQUIAND (Lyon), France, 1925. Silverplate metal and noble woods. This tea and coffee service obtained a gold medal at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs of 1925, in Paris. It is composed of four pieces, this set never had a tray made by RM, just four pieces. We have added a tray which seems to us to be perfectly suitable. Teapot - Height: 6.3"(16cm), Width: 8.7"(22cm). Coffee-pot - Height: 7.5"(19cm), Width: 8.1"(20.5cm). Sugar-pot - Height: 5.1"(13cm), Width: 5.7"(14.5cm). Creamer - Height: 3.9"(10cm), Width: 5.6"(14.2cm). Roux-Marquiand stamp on each piece. Tray - Outter diameter: 18.2"(46.3cm) - Height: 1.6"(4cm). Condition : excellent for the set - very good for the tray. Lyon, 7 rue Centrale. Created in 1876 by ??two artisans, Chapuis and Marquiand that combine to build a silver shop, the company is called Roux-Marquiand in 1877, due to marriage. It will remain in the hands of the same family until the 1960s.In 1918, it is directed by a woman who, widowed during the war, maintains, supported by faithful craftsmen, a production of high quality. This is an important company that will have up to 100 workers, employing a workforce of high level. It will never achieve religious silversmith and will focus only on silverplate, seeking to limit the hegemony of Christofle, omnipresent on the market.
