About the Item
Derby Porcelain Large Botanical Soup Tureen, Cover & Stand,
Circa 1815-25
The Derby porcelain soup tureen, cover and stand are finely painted with exuberantly styled groupings of flowers to four sides, around the rim of the stand and on the cover. The tureen with large lion head terminals on the body of the tureen at the top of each of the four feet, the feet in the form of paws which are also gilded. The loop handled are upswept with a reeded gilt design and lion head terminals. The cover's handle is similarly designed.
Mark: red painted Crown with crossed batons below and the letter D.
Dimensions Overall: 16 1/4 inches wide x 12 1/2 inches wide x 10 inches high;
Tureen: 13 3/4 inches wide x 9 1/2 inches x 9 3/4 inches high;
Dish: 16 1/4 inches x 12 1/2 inches wide x 2 inches.

Circa 1780
The Chinese Export porcelain tureen and cover are painted in the Imari palette. The body and cover are painted in underglaze blue and iron-red with ducks on a pond surrounded by water lilies . The unusual handles are in the form of upturned water lily pods. The finial is shaped as a closed flower with leaves and the rim of the tureen and the edge of the cover have an undulating design.
Dimensions: 9 inches high x 13 1/2 inches wide x 9 3/4 inches deep.
