About the Item

William Frisbee. A very fine pair of George III Sauce Tureens made in London in 1797 by William Frisbee The Sauce Tureens stand on an oval pedestal foot. The Boat shaped main bodies have a reeded rim and unusual panelled sides. Both have two harp shaped side handles and a domed cover which terminates in a reeded crossed branch finial. The main body is engraved with a contemporary shield shaped Armorial and the cover with a Crest. The Arms and Crest are those of the Eyre family of County Wiltshire, impaling those of Mitchell of Calne, County Wiltshire. The Eyres were an old and distinguished family in the country and numerous members of the family sat in Parliament. The work of William Frisbee is always of the finest quality and he was in partnership with the great Paul Storr from 1792 until 1798, which would also account for the quality of his output. An exceptional pair of Tureens. Additional information: Length: 9.45 inches, 23.63cm. Height: 6.25 inches, 15.63cm. Width: 3.9 inches, 9.75cm.
