About the Item
Wedgwood Black Basalt by Designer Nick Munro Ice or Wine Cooler made in 1999, with a matte finish to the exterior whilst gloss black to the interior standing at 24 cm in height and 20 cm in diameter adding a touch of elegance to any table setting or it can be used for a striking display.
The ice bucket features Nick Munroe for Wedgwood made in England 1999 to the underneath.
Nick Munro studied engineering and design at Nottingham University, Imperial College of Science and Technology and The Royal College of Art, London, and launched his career in design by turning bedsprings into egg-cups - an instant hit which won him the prize of UK Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Nick's signature collection has grown to include pewter, ceramics, glass, furniture and lighting, all featuring his distinctive combination of craftsmanship, integrity and wit.
Over recent years, many prestigious international companies have commissioned Nick to contribute to their design programs, and joint ventures have come to fruition with Wedgwood, The V&A Museum, La Cafetiere, Fired Earth, John Lewis, Bugatti in Italy and Royal Selangor in Malaysia.
In 2008, P&O Cruises launched their new superliner Ventura featuring specially commissioned Nick Munro designs from stem to stern and from cutlery to sculpture. In 2009 John Lewis brought Nick’s furniture designs to the high streets of Britain for the first time. During the first months of 2010, BBC1 recruited Nick as an expert mentor for their innovative series ‘High Street Dreams’.

A stunning Cut Lead Crystal Glass Vase made by Wash Glass England this vase has great style and reflects the Art Deco Period it dates to 1930 and is faintly etched underneath Walsh England.
25cm tall x 11.5cm wide
The Vase is is fabulous condition but has slight scratches to the underneath consistent with the age of the piece.
John Walsh Walsh bought a glassworks in Birmingham, England, in 1850 and it operated for a hundred years. The beautiful vase on the left is an example of this company's "New Opaline Brocade" glass which was advertised in the Pottery and Glass Trade Gazette in 1897. They made a large volume of glass, in all the typical styles of their period. Cut crystal in traditional or historical designs was another of their specialities, and from the turn of the century for the following 40 years they produced cut lead crystal with very deep cutting.
