Theodore Alexander "Althorp" Hand Crafted Cellarette, C. 1990's
About the Item
Hand made oval cellarette made of mahogany and banded in brass by the Theodore Alexander furniture company in the 1990's for their Althorp Collection. The piece has a hinged lid and fluted legs on castors, with brass handles and a pull, plus two keys. A great cabinet to store liquor or to be used as a side table.
Three hundred pieces from the Althrop estate were replicated with permission from Charles Spencer to raise money to help pay for the estate. These Spencer ancestors which included Princes Diana were able to indulge their tastes – to commission art, furniture, and all the finer things in life. You can see the Spencer touch in every corner of Althorp – this historic house that my family has called “home” for over 500 years.
