Vase in White Onyx Italian Contemporary Design by Pieruga Marble

About

Luxurious small vase sculpted by hand from a solid block of white onyx. Vase dimensions: D 13, H 22 cm. The polished finishing underlines the transparency of the onyx making this a very precious object. Marble is a natural material, every piece is unique as each marble block is different in veins and color shades. All of our creations are handmade by Italian artisans and can slightly vary in shape and size. This is to be considered as a guarantee of a handmade object. Pieruga proudly creates elegant accessories and complements in marble through artisanal processes, bringing into dialogue ancient techniques of sculpture with advanced technologies. 100% handmade in Italy. Our Mission is a clear Signal of opposition to the enormous waste that occurs in the extraction and processing of large blocks of marble, tons of material are discarded and thrown, in disfigurement to the generosity of our mountains. Rediscovering the ancient art of manual sculpture we give new life to even the smallest fragment of marble, bringing to light its millenary beauty that is lost in more than 2000 years of architecture and sculpture. Pieruga marble is a new brand by Barberini & Gunnell. The Atelier Barberini & Gunnell was founded by the architects and designers Francesco Barberini and Nina A. Gunnell The artworks by Barberini & Gunnell are regularly shown at international art fairs, such as PAD London, PAD Genève, PAD Monaco, Salon Art and Design New York, Art Miami.

View Profile
The Atelier Barberini & Gunnell was founded in Ancona (Italy) by the architects and designers Francesco Barberini and Nina A. Gunnell as the result of a passion followed for a long period of time, creating objects far from the industrial reality; one-off pieces and limited editions. The choice of the best and most precious materials, the maniacal cure for detail are the basis of their modus operandi aiming to create timeless pieces. Every artwork has it’s inspirational background, it’s story. Gigantic spiders as tables which bypass the forests of enormous mangrove trees, light weighted and at the same time heavy glass Origamis, chained up tables which seem to revolt against the immobility of the four legs, freeing themselves in a movement of rings forming a chain. Abandoning the mere functionality and rediscovering emotions; from the warm perfume of wood, losing oneself in the transparent magic of crystal glass, to the cold and sterile steel, thought by mankind for mankind, mirror polished symbol of progress. The artworks by Barberini & Gunnell can be found in auction houses like Sotheby's, Bonhams, Tajan and Dorotheum and are presented by Italian and International galleries. The sculptural dining-table 'Chained Up Miami' was presented by the Ammann Gallery during ArtBasel Design/Miami 2016. Barberini & Gunnell also create for private clients and collectors such as the architect Peter Marino, who inserted a bench of the 'Get Lost!' family in his late.
