Ancient Roman Bronze Handle or Artifact

About the Item

An antique or ancient Roman bronze element. This piece was an element of a vase or possibly handle to something larger. It has the head of a wolf or lion mounted on a curved handle supported by a section of braided ring. With a thick heavy patination that is straight to the bronze in some places. From the private collection of Lawrence Majewski, who was a former conservator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Simply a wonderful piece for the Wunderkammer or Curio Cabinet! Date: circa. 2nd-5th Century CE Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition with some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.     Ancient Roman Carnelian Intaglio. An intaglio is defined as a small Gemstone, generally semi-precious, that has been carved with images or inscriptions only on the face.
