"Dutch Boy" Themed Chocolate Mold Pattern Circa 1915, Belgium

About the Item

Made circa 1915, this hammered tin mold is unmarked but probably was made in Belgium vis a vis the "Dutch Boy" theme. This two part chocolate mold pattern was used in the making of chocolate during the dawn of chocolate manufacturing in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. To capitalize on its popularity, makers employed the use of people, animals, and objects to shape their chocolate in order to attract, entice, and encourage the purchase of their confectionery products. Finely detailed to both sides, the "Dutch Boy" is in traditional clothing, with hands in pocket. It is in completely original condition with no repairs and it is ready to use again or simply to be placed on the shelf for display and collectors' enjoyment. Nice addition for the chocolate mold collector or those who relish folk art. Dimensions: 6" high x 3" wide x 1 1/2" deep
