Louis XVI Style Lion Mask Wall Clock

About the Item

“A Louis XVI style lion mask wall clock” This fire gilt bronze Louis XVI style lion mask wall clock was one of the most outstanding masterpieces, which was originally made by Edme-Jean Causard – one of the most well-known and professional clockmakers during the period of Louis XV. Honestly, he created many famous works of art because of his artistic talent, diligence, and skillful hands. At first glance, the clock has a sophisticated and appealing design, making viewers unable to take their eyes off. Moreover, the clock is really a great choice for antique collectors because of its realistic motifs decoration and incredibly excellent quality. The top of the clock is adorned with a classical urn and a pine cone, which is meticulously carved. The black Roman and Arabic numerals are designed on a circular white enamel dial plate with exquisitely engraved gilt hands, making it more luxurious and elegant. The words “CAUSARD HGRDUROY, SUIVTLACOUR” are inscribed inside the dial. A curved glass shields the entire dial; a big lion’s head mask is placed underneath. On each side of the dial, flowers are mounted on the top of two columns; goat’s heads and draped lion’s skins are below these flowers. The unique details of this cartel wall clock are painstakingly crafted by talented artists. A square frame with four little pine cones is designed beneath the lion's head; this frame is sculpted by countless fine and straight lines. The bottom of the clock is incredibly special and glamorous, with a small bunch of flowers and a waisted leaf adorning it; above those are triangle patterns that are evenly spaced, showing the artistic creativity and excellence of prominent clockmakers. The movement of this beautiful clock is constant thanks to owning an anchor escapement with a silk pendulum suspension. Although the design of the clock is not excessively intricate, it still has its own unique features and aesthetics. This antique item is regarded as a remarkable achievement in the field of carving because of its superior quality, good material, and attractive design.
