Selection of 3 fragments Gogottes de Fontainebleau. On modern black oak stand. Fontainebleau Gogottes, a rare masterpiece of natural art originating from the Fontainebleau region of France. Forged over millennia in the deep embrace of the earth, this unique geological sculpture dates back to the Oligocene, approximately 30 million years ago. Composed primarily of siliceous sand anchored by calcite or aragonite, this formation exhibits an intricate and porous texture that tells a geological story of mineral dissolution and precipitation in underground caverns and cavities.
