Vintage Turn of The Century Deer Horn Handle American Walking Stick Circa 1900
About the Item
Desirable western themed walking stick with a deer horn, highly figured handle in natural bone colors, with original brown highlights to the boned recessed horizontal lines. This is a late 19th early 20th century cane which became popular with the Americans' fascination of the Western lifestyle. The original and untouched handle fits nicely into a "grip" for walking, and has a silver plated 1" banded collar just below, wrapped around the shaft. The
1" walnut shaft has it's original surface with no restoration; ending in a plane tip with metal to the underneath. It doesn't look like it ever supported a ferrel.
Every collector of walking sticks should have a deer or elk horned themed example. It is also simply a nice article of antique American folk art.
