Contemporary French Terracotta Sculpture on Iron Base with Aquatic Motifs
About the Item
Mounted on an iron base, this contemporary terracotta sculpture was crafted by French ceramist Nuria Alba. Its organic, pebble-like form is accented with hand-painted aquatic motifs, featuring a bold, stylized fish surrounded by delicate, ethereal marine life. The earthy tones of the terracotta are accentuated by subtle pops of color, evoking a sense of depth and movement.
Nuria Alba, born in 1953 in Vilanova i la Geltrú, is a distinguished ceramic artist who studied ceramics at the renowned Forma School in Barcelona. Since 2007, she has also served as the mayor of Senan, where she resides and works.
Her work integrates clay fired using raku and other reductive glazing techniques, enhanced with intricate decorative elements. Recently, she has developed a unique design language that harmoniously weaves natural forms inspired by femininity, geometric structures, and abstract motifs.
