About the Item

Small ceramic dish by Marianne Johnson for Royal Copenhagen in the 1950s, from the ‘Tenera’ series. 17x17cm H:3,5cm Royal Copenhagen is one of Europe's oldest porcelain manufacturers, founded in 1775 in Copenhagen by the chemist Frantz Heinrich Müller, under the protection of Queen Juliane Marie. The Royal Porcelain Factory was created to restore and repair the Royal Family's tableware. Quality and Design Royal Copenhagen is renowned for the quality of its porcelain, hand-decorated with sumptuous and delicate motifs. The luxury Flora Danica range is particularly famous for its floral and animal motifs, created from blue-painted designs, which have become the factory's trademark. More than 2,000 different designs have been created and handed down from generation to generation, forming part of Denmark's cultural heritage.
