About the Item
A wonderfully made and colored ashtray/ bowl by Mexican born ceramic master Raul Coronel who played an important role in the American (he became a naturalized citizen) / California design movement of the 1950s-1970s alongside Peter Voulkos, Beatrice Wood, Gertrud & Otto Natzler, Otto & Vivika Heino, to name but a few.
This ashtray features a wonderful glaze featuring shades of olive green, ochre, and rust.
The work is signed by Coronel on the base.
Coronel's work showed in the Pasadena Museum's influential "California Design" exhibits and can be found in such museums as The DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, Los Angeles County Museum, The Long Beach Museum, The Tweed Museum of Art, The Arts of Southern California Museum, and The Smithsonian Institute to name a few.
Would be a great addition to any Mid-Century Modern pottery collection or beautiful stand-alone accent piece.

A gorgeous work by 20th century master American and renowned Minnesota studio potter/artist Warren MacKenzie.
The three-footed tenmoku glazed bowl is signed/ stamped along the foot rim by MacKenzie and features a unique decorative pattern. The dark, rich glaze radiates in the light.
This work would a great addition to any Warren Mackenzie or modern pottery/ ceramic collection or eye-catching stand-alone accent piece in about any setting.
A student of both famed ceramic artists Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, Mackenzie is credited with bringing the functional Japanese Mingei tradition and craft to the United States and spreading it through his own art and teaching mentorship during his long tenure at the University of Minnesota.
Along with being named a Regent’s Professor, and a fellow of the International Academy of Ceramics, the highly decorated and awarded MacKenzie was the first to receive the Minnesota Governor’s Award in Crafts in 1986. He later received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Minnesota Crafts Council in 1997 and a year later he was honored with the Gold Medal from the American Crafts Council.
His work can be found in numerous collections and museums including:

A wonderfully crafted and beautifully glazed bowl by renowned American California master potter Laura Andreson. An uncommon form for Andreson with a high gloss glaze featuring a dark ocean deep blue / aqua color with delicate splashes of greens. Gorgeous in its Mid-Century Modern design.
Signed on the base by Andreson (and stamped).
