About the Item

Stoneware dish glazed by the Bangholm workshop in the 1960s. One side is glazed, the other is left unglazed, with beautiful material effects. Note a very small chip, see detail photo. Diam: 25cm H: 6.5cm Bangholm Pottery was founded in 1948 in Skodstrup, near Aarhus, Denmark, by Knud Nielsen and his father (also a potter), with domestic and utility items for the home. The company reached the height of its popularity in the 1950s and 1960s, and became known for its glazed earthenware pottery with colourful stripes, which has remained popular in the secondary market ever since.
