Shell Encrusted Lucky Elephant Statue in Brown Black and White, 1930s

About the Item

A large tall lucky sea shell encrusted elephant statue or figurine. Covered in shells, this elephant stands with its trunk up pointed toward the sky. In Southeast Asia, elephants with trunks that point upwards, are known to be good luck. It is decorated in a variety of shells in a linear pattern in brown, black, and white. Its trunk features a wooden piece at the tip of its nose. Its four feet are painted brown, as well as its tongue and the end of its tail. Its brown eyes are glass and lifelike. This would be a great piece to decorate a bookshelf. Or as a gift to any lover of folk art. Dimensions: 10.5" wide 9" tall 3.75" deep.
