19th Century Plains Beaded Moccasins

A pair of high button, deerskin moccasins of a Plains Native American tribe. Beaded by hand on each moccasin top, in yellow and blue above a black and white saw tooth band or strip of period beads, down to the toe. There is a row of machine made fancy buttons, 8 or 9 on each moccasin upper, used to close the deerskin wraparound the ankles and shin.

Distressed. Although heavily worn and mottled, these moccasins are still very attractive and have a delightful, antique quality, that I find historically romantic. They have a petite dimension which could have been made for a woman or young adult. .

Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading.
