Antique Native American Beaded Moccasins, Kiowa, Plains, 19th Century

About

Constructed of native tanned hide and artfully beaded with blue, white and red trade beads; the maker recycled portions of painted parfleche for the soles. Each moccasin measures 10.75 x 3.75 x 4.75 inches. The Kiowa, a nomadic tribe of the Great Plains region of North America, occupied the Rocky Mountain and Southern Plains regions of the United States including portions of present day Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Montana, South Dakota, New Mexico and Kansas.
