Antique Native American Beaded Pouch, Athapaskan, Mid-19th Century

Custom display stand is included. This remarkable hide pouch was created during what is considered the Classic period of American Indian art (predating the reservation era). The hide was constructed of native tanned hide with the fur left intact and beaded in pony-trader blue and white with scalloped edge beading. Pouch height with stand measures 9.5 inches, and the base measures 6.5 x 4.5 inches. The Athapaskan/Athabaskan people of the Northwest Coast were nomadic hunters occupying much of present-day Alaska. Expedited and International shipping is available; please contact us for an estimate.
