Chancay Large Standing Female Cuchimilco

About the Item

Large standing female figure with raised arms. Relief facial features, with red-orange and chocolate brown painted decoration, on a cream slip ground. Crossed straps on her chest, and geometric decoration on her arms and back of both legs. Repaired from approximately twelve large pieces with restoration over the break lines, two toes with edge chips. Provenance: Private Danish collection, acquired 1970s, collection #1749. Culture or Country: Chancay. Period: Ca. 1000-1250 A.D. Size: 22-1/4” H. x 11-1/2” W.
