About the Item

A beautiful if not a little oddly strange Indigenous Native American Southwest Acoma Pueblo of New Mexico bowl featuring a wonderful hand painted beetle/bug/insect motif. The bowl is signed by the artist on the underside and noted "Acoma. N.M." Likely mid to later 20th century. From a fine Southern California collection of Native American art, artifacts and pottery. Acoma Pueblo is a Native American pueblo approximately 60 miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Four communities make up the village of Acoma Pueblo: Sky City (Old Acoma), Acomita, Anzac, and McCartys. The people of this region are renowned for their artistic creativity and pottery designs. Would be a great addition to any Acoma Pueblo or Native American art/artifacts collection or make foe an eye catching stand alone accent piece in about any setting.
