Rare 29 Palms Chemehuevi Native American Basket, Early 20th Century


Rare, 29 Palms Chemehuevi basket from the Southern California desert. Human figures, (14) men and women. Some of the figures having blue glass eyes. The number "4" is women into the basket, possibly indicating it was woven in 1904. The provenance of this basket is from Rancho La Loma in Riverside County from the Albert Pico Family. Descendant of one of California's most important, early Spanish families.
